Course Description

The olympic distance course is a 1500 meter swim, 40 Km bike, and a 10 Km run. The relay event uses the Olympic course. The sprint course is a 700 meter swim, 27 Km bike, and 5 Km run. Both events will use the same course. The Olympic distance will complete 3 laps on the bike course, and 2 laps on the run course. The sprint distance will complete 2 laps on the bike course, and 1 lap on the run course.

Water Temperature & Quality

Labor Day water temperature is usually around 76-78 degrees, so the swim will likely be wetsuit legal. However, the extreme drought in 2009 caused warm water temperature and a non-wetsuit legal race. LadyBird Lake is controlled and regulated by the City of Austin. Weather Contingency Plan

In the event of foul weather, the start time of this event may be delayed by up to 1 hour. Should the weather conditions be unsafe for the swim, this event will be changed to a bike-run with distances of a 40 Km bike and a 5 Km run. The sprint distance will change to a bike-run with distances of a 27 Km Bike and a 5 Km run. The duathlon will use a time trial start based upon the same order. If the weather makes it too dangerous for cycling, the event will become a 5 Km run for all participants.

This event will use USA Triathlon Age Group rules.
