Do I have to register online?

Yes. You may pay using your credit or debit card.

How can I be sure that I’m registered?

First, you should receive a confirmation email from myraceregistration.com. MyRaceRegisration.com also allows you to log into your account to view past registrations. Last, a participant start list will be available shortly before the event.

Can I pickup my packet on race day?

No. The size and location of the event do not allow for packet pickup or bike check-in on the day of the event. You must pick up your packet at the expo and check in your bike on Sunday. What is the mandatory bike check-in? All bikes must be checked into the transition area on Sunday, the day before the event. The bike must be numbered before entering transition. Please do not place plastic bags over your bike. They will be cut off as wind will cause your bike to blow over while on the rack.

Where can I stay?

Special room rates for the event are available at the Hyatt Regency, the host hotel for The Austin Triathlon. Visit the travel page for more information. There are many other hotels within walking distance of the event site.

Where can I park?

There will be several parking options available. There will likely be a charge for most of the parking lots, although some may be free of charge. Unfortunately, the charges are outside the control of the race organization, so it's impossible to predict exactly which lots will charge. A parking map is available here.

What’s the swim like?

The swim will be in Town Lake. Town Lake is operated by LCRA. They do frequent water testing and make the results available on their website, www.lcra.org. Big storms can bring lots of debris into the lake, but the months of July and August are very dry, so that is not expected. The water is normally very smooth and clean. We have the current increased in the days leading up to the race to clear any debris. Then the water level is raised 1-2 feet above normal so that we are sure to be above any underwater obstacles. We also stop the flow of current during the race.

Will wetsuits be legal?

We can't say for sure, but it is likely that wetsuits will be legal. The water temperature is expected to be below 78 F. Water temperatures will be posted in August.

Are there relays?

Yes. There is a 3 person relay division. You may also do a relay with just 2 people, however you will be scored with the 3 person teams.

Is there a Clydesdale or Athena category?

No. There are only the open and age group divisions.

What is the open division and how do I register for it?

The open division is exists for the fastest participants. The idea is to let the pros and elite age groupers compete against each other, regardless of age, and to therefore make the age group waves a little more friendly. The divison is open to men who have completed a full olympic distance triathlon in under 2:10, and to women who have completed an olympic in under 2:20. Please email info@highfiveevents.com to request to be placed in the open division.

Can I switch from the Olympic to the Sprint or vise versa after I register?

Yes, you may switch between distances so long as the requests is made no less than 1 week before the event. There is no cost to switch.

What are the rules?

This event will follow USAT rules. You may view the full list of rules at www.usatriathlon.org.

What kind of equipment do I need to do a race?

There are a few bare essentials that you need to do a race. You will need a bike (anything that is road worthy will do. No need to have a high tech racing bike for your first triathlon), you must have an ANSI/Snell/CSA certified bike helmet (all bike helmets sold today are certified), you probably want goggles for the swim, you need a swim suit, running shoes of some kind, cycling shoes if you have clipless pedals on your bike. That's the bare minimum, really. You may want a hat for the run, sunglasses for the bike and run, a water bottle or two on the bike is a good idea as well. After that, things like wetsuits, fancy wheels for your bike, racing flats to run in, etc. are all extras.

How do I get credit for the Texas Tri Series?

Make sure that you have signed up for the Texas Tri Series. Then just sign up for the event and finish! Also, you may sign up to be a volunteer.
